Chahi is a suburb located on the outer edge of Bukavu. Chahi Hospital is strategically placed in this poor area as a facility that provides initial care for villagers and others from the area that need medical help. Chahi Hospital includes an operating theatre, an ambulance, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology room, maternity ward, and two general wards, totalling about 80 beds.
Training local staff
Focus Congo organises medical team visits, who perform medical procedures and surgeries as well as providing professional development for local staff. Local capacity building is crucial to sustainably strengthen the local health care system.
In the recent past Focus Congo organised a partnership that enabled renovation of the hospital and included the provision of preloved medical equipment, which was generously donated. Some of the donated equipment included: operating theatre lighting, x-ray equipment and an ultrasound machine.
